I bought in our "brazilian ebay":

If I would to order a new one, I'd go for at least 12cm in one of the dimensions, so I would have three chances But if you have a number of displays to apply that fix, probably you'll need a bigger one. And after the first success you'll have expertise to do more with less.

The key feature is that the polarizer needs to be linear. I'm quite not sure about the angle. I can check later today and post. But I did cut at corners, 90º angles.
