Hi Pauli, Thanks for that. I was thinking of using a similar technique to what HP did in the printer. The clock chip used in the 97 board has a 5ppm output over a large temperature range, so I might be able to use that as a reference to create a time scale for the IR signal. I'm not even sure it is needed. From what I read, the printer firmware continually adjusts itself from the incoming IR signal and tries to stay in sync. If the IR pulse width varies a bit, then the printer might be able to adjust itself to suit. It would depend on how far the signal can deviate before it cannot compensate. cheers Tony |
