RE: What was the first computer you owned?
I had access to a variety of systems starting in the early '80s, but the first computer I actually owned was the original Macintosh. I was working at an Apple dealer when the product was introduced and was able to participate in the "Own-a-Mac" program that provided a substantial discount. Those were fun days. A couple years later I joined Apple and quite a few different models replaced the original one over the next dozen or so years. I didn't keep the first one, but I've still got a few of the others.

Except for the TI-57 and the Casio FX-702p (still love it, wrote en emulator), my first computer was a piece of crap:

Got the real thing after that one (Apple II) and kept it a long time.

RE: What was the first computer you owned?
The 1st computer I owned was an Amstrad CPC664, in 1985.

But the firsts computers I programmed, since 1981, were the Sinclair ZX-81 and Commodore VIC-20 (in departament stores), the Sinclair Spectrum (from friends) and the rare (I think) Casio fx-9000p in the secondary school.

Regards.

RE: What was the first computer you owned?
1. 1977 OSI Challenger, with 4K RAM and just the 256 byte monitor program. I soldered the chips for 3 more 4K boards and a floppy disk controller board, over 2000 pins in total. I never did get the 8 inch floppy working; I should have settled for cassette tape storage. As it was, power outages were really painful.

2. 1980 Atari 800, with some cartridges and cassette, eventually the serial-based 5.25 inch floppy. High point was a round the clock MULE tournament during Spring Break 1984, with 4 joysticks.

3. 1984 Original Macintosh, eventually spending an insane amount of money for a memory upgrade to a "Fat" Mac, and printer.

Mine was a TK2000, a clone of yours. But at least it had a better keyboard. Exactly 31 years and one day ago I wrote a function plotter for it. This is the Apple II version.
My second computer was an MSX Expert (mainly because it was less expensive than an Apple II).

Seems better than mine. But it seems it was sold only in Brazil?

Yes, to my knowledge only here. By that time we were subject to an infamous market reserve law. Microcomputers and peripherals were to be supplied by national industry only. I couldn’t legally own an original Apple II, even if I could afford one. This would last still a few years. Dark ages…

More information about the TK-2000, in English:
