Well, the items Sylvain lists show some kind of dream-come-true. The bare minimum is an HP-41 with the IL module and the HP7470A Opt. 003 -- that is the one with HP-IL interface. If you have one with RS232, well yes, in that case you also need an HP-82164A HP-IL/RS-232C interface.

Started with this starter setup you soon will reach for the HP-82184A Plotter module that helps a lot in programming HP-GL output. And yes, of cause, an HP-41CX is better than an HP-41CV which is better than an HP-41C. Next, if you realy do need to do things with HP-IL only the HP-71 could do, the HP-82183A Extended-I/O module could push the limits of a bare HP-41 a bit further.

I regard this as somewhat obsolete. Most of the equipment could be replaced by a virtual equivalent. No more Gordens knot in cables, no leaking batteries, no dried out pens -- only error prone OSes and smoking mSATAs. Wink

Ciao Mike,
I know that there is a plotter emulator (if you mean that) but anyway you have to interface the real calculator with a PC, how?
Or maybe you mean complete emulation of the hardware?

To bridge the real and virtual IL JF Garnier offers a PILBOX. My personal dream-come-true would be a simulation of all components.

Dreaming time: get an active ("hot") USB-interface between the real machine and V41 (or your favorite simulator) - that links them both "live"...

RE: 41 Programs for 7470 Plotter - Why so few?
I published a beta version of pyILPER with a HP7470 emulation and I am still interested in getting more test programs. Does anybody have all programs in the book "Grafik mit dem HP-41" as raw files? I got only some of them from the GRAFIX ROM.

Are there any HP-71 applications for the HP7470A plotter?

Regards
Joachim

I have BARCODES for the program listings (from the book). I seem to remember some utility to convert barcode-2-mod. Helpful?

The barcode reader utility requires however very clean high resolution 600dpi black and white scans of the barcodes.

I didn't find any info for the GRAFIX rom, appears in the CL rom list though. Which programs do you have?
Here’s one; LINH, the first on the book. As I didn’t test it, errors are not excluded.
Is there some translation – English, French, Spanish or Portuguese – of the book?

Type error. I meant the GRAFIKS rom project discussed in this thread. At the moment I have raw files for LINH, STABH. KREISH, LINLOG, LOGLOG, NETZ. I failed to get XY running because the program listing seems to be incomplete between line 392 and 402.

I do not think that this book was translated into other languages.

I remember there were a few glitches in the bar codes and program listings, but you can make up for the omissions looking in the "parallel" routines. You can also create the RAW files using the MOD file loaded on V41, that's probably the easiest way?

Joachim

Will you post these files to a thread for download?
