HP program forms
When I got my first HP calculators (a 34C, soon followed by a 41C) I started writing lots of more or less useful programs. Of course these had to be documented in some way. The only forms I could get were those for the HP67/97. Later I got a sample form for the 41-series. Now I wonder what kind of program forms may have been available back in the days. For instance, an old HP journal article (1975-11) on the new HP25 shows something titled "HP-25 program form".

So I would like to ask which program forms have been available by HP or other sources. For instance, has there been a version for the Spices? And maybe somewhere there is a source for PDF forms ?-)

Hello Dieter,

You will find here, program forms for the HP-35, 55, 25, 65, 67 and 41.

Best regards,

Sylvain

Great – thank you very much! I didn't know that the program forms for the 25 and 55 even had columns for the four stack levels.

Now what about rebuilding these forms as interactive PDF forms that can be filled out by the user ?-)

RE: HP program forms
Hello,
why do you think that these forms have been stopped with hp41?
Do you also think that these forms were not useful for the 48?

The hp48 RPL programs with stack manipulation was not so easy to depict after a couple of weeks...

Thanks

Giancarlo

The original forms that I have are in color (orange, green, etc), I will rescan them in color and repost it.
I will then see if I can create a interactive PDF form over it.
It will take a couple of days before the interactive forms are posted because I have other things in progress that I need to finish first.

RE: HP program forms
I guess I'm too young to know about these... what are program forms? Are these templates for hand-written program code back in the days when printing was not as readily available as compared to today? Were these used to submit programs to various magazines?

Serious inquiry -- I've never heard of these.

Essentially... yes. These forms contained a program listing, usually written by hand or typewriter. If (!) a printer was available (there were just a few models) also the printed listing (i.e. the paper strip) could be attached directly. Other parts of the form contained user instructions (what keys to press for which function), application examples, status information (register contents, flags, display settings) and background information such as used formulas, algorithms etc. In other words, these forms provided more or less complete information for the program user.

As far as I know HP's software library for the 65, 67/97 and 41 had special forms based on the usual 67/97/41 forms with additional information (program title, category and others). The linked PDF contains a combined 67/97/41 submission form.

This solution will of course preserve the "vintage look" of these forms as well as possible. But wouldn't it be easier to generate new forms (with the same design) from scratch? Most decent word processors should be able to do this, let alone dedicated layout software.

Interesting comment.

Many of the things that are done here could be done a lot easier. But I don't think most of us do something because they are easy to do, but do them because they are interesting to do; are just fun to attempt; or preserves the original look and feel of something.

Life would be pretty boring if we only did the easy stuff.

RE: HP program forms
Hi Sylvain,

thank you very much for scanning and sharing the program forms. Alas, the link for "HP-65/67/97/41C Program Submittal for Users Library" doesn't seem to work 'cause I got "Error 404". May I ask you to check it and post a corrected link?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Karl

There are some invisible characters at the end of the url (%E2%80%8B).
Here is a working link:

Here are a couple of Microsoft Word files with fill-in blanks for the HP-65 programming forms. Someone gave them to me, I forget who.

Wow, those took a LOT of work, and are very nice.
A BIG Thanks to whomever created these, if you're still out there reading this.

And thanks to Sylvain and Don for sharing these.

I am the one who created them at the request of Don last May.
I am currently evaluating several PDF applications for OSX that can easily create forms. Once this is done, I will then create data entry forms for all the HP programming forms that I have scanned.
Best regards,
Sylvain

I thought it might have been you that gave them to me, but you mentioned earlier in the thread that you would create them (I guess in pdf format as opposed to Word) so I wasn't sure. But, yes, thanks Sylvain, you have given me many great things for the 65 and I appreciate it.
