Hmmh. The active menu will be displayed. The remaining display space is sufficient for showing four stack levels. KISS.

What about a software setting that would display one, two or all three lines of a menu?

Set the flag for one row and my menu only shows one row, etc.

Pauli

Exactly why i chose it Pauli. If A is chosen it's trivial for anyone wanting "B" to assign the 6 keys right where "B" shows them. Trivial if Eric makes an overlay page for us anyway.

BTW: ERIC; When and if you do an overlay kit for the 43s you might take a poll to get a few extra ideas on labels for people with some shared common global labels and functions not already on the regular keyboard. There wouldn't be too many. Surveyors would have about five (HMS+, HMS- for instance) , Stats and general math guys (and girls) will have 6 or 7, bean counters will want a couple. You know; something to help fill out your page, and the blank spots on the "A" option in user mode.

OK, Gene, and how to write a manual for such an UI? :-? BTW, your 43S will display four stack levels anyway.

No, Sir, each (user) menu may contain 18 items, and if you want less items displayed then simply put in less. KISS.

Thanks for voting (was: RE: [43S] Let's try a poll on the new forum :-) )
Thanks for voting! Looks like an equal score (two declared supporters of A didn't succeed in dropping their votes, and the difference is well within the statistical margin of uncertainty anyway). So we are as clever as before ... Wink

No wonder, since the arithmetic keys are on the left side, so many potential voters didn't vote at all.
Or in other words, they voted by saving their money for other calcs...

Hermeneutics didn't went that far ... yet. But let's anticipate it: B stands for Bible, Blessing and so on, while A stands for Antichrist, Anarchy etc. This poll is a Gretchenfrage, so choose wisely!

No, Sir, I'm afraid not. The next sentence contains the word "hältst" and Goethe would not have used the same word in two consecutive sentences.

That's why I have it on my iPad. One of the few books I bothered to upload there (*). I don't really like to read books from computer screens.

(*) The WP34s manual is also there of course :-)

In layout A, the functions of 'f' with the digits and decimal point are not defied, so can we have the functions from layout B (sin/cos/tan etc.) transplanted onto these?

That's the layout I would vote for!

RE: [43S] Let's try a poll on the new forum :-)
Please let me quote the draft 43S manual:

Quote:Your WP 43S (will be) the first calculator worldwide allowing for full customizing; i.e. you may assign an arbitrary function to almost any location, unshifted or shifted, on the keyboard or in a menu. User mode will then bring your personal assignments to the front, so you can interact with a user interface you designed yourself. ... [USER] is the only label you cannot reassign.

So feel free to assign whatever you like to said locations.
