Same to me. Tony, you are a genius!

Bernhard

That's one small step for a man - one giant leap for mankind.

Nope, definitely not a genius. The difference between a fool and a genius is that that the latter has limits and Tony's doesn't appear to have any Smile

As Clint Eastwood said .... :-)

I'd actually put myself on a lesser par with Bernhard and some earlier achievers.

RE: HP97 The journey begins
Hi all,

Some more progress.

Here is the HP-65 CPU board almost populated with a little test wire hanging in the breeze.

All power supplies work ok, Battery 3.7-4.5V. Volts out are 8V, 6V, 5V and 3.3V.

Most software has been written, bugs are next.

cheers

Tony

Hi all,

Happy today :-)

The classic display drivers have responded nicely to my new single processor interface.

cheers

Great, looks like your plan has worked! Did you try the decimal points?

Yes, all good.

I had the test LED across a cathode driver output and it flashed quite bright at first switch on. After a few hours of playing around I figured out the problem and it doesn't light at all now except for a faint glow which looks like normal operation.

cheers

RE: HP97 The journey begins
Hi all,

The HP65 CPU board seems to be running ok.

The display, keyboard and PRGM/RUN switch are working and it will accept and run programs. The PC program connects to it and transfers information back and forth. The calculator menu is working and I can use it to load and save program cards plus set operating options from the keyboard.

Next is the CRC stuff for the card reader.

cheers

Great! You are making good progress! I'll dig out a 65 and prepare for a board Smile

Hi Alberto,

Will be, but a bit to go yet. The 67 appears to work ok but a bug exists in the card read that I haven't sorted yet. If you consider the complexity of PIC machine code emulating HP microcode and the CRC chip while trying to capture data as the card whizzes through the reader... :-)

Anyway, maybe I'm looking at the problem but can't see it so I put it aside for a bit and I'll have a go at the 65 for awhile.

cheers

RE: HP97 The journey begins
Hi all,

Well it looks like the HP65 CPU board is behaving.

All functions work and it now reads and writes cards :-)

It also detects write protected cards which stops the write process and flags an error, but you can override this with a menu option and re-program those cards if required.

Just to test the Bluetooth now and it should be good.

cheers

That's an amazingly good result after the pain the 67 caused...

Yes, I thought the 67 would be easier, but not the case. Now that the 65 is ticking over, I'll get back to find that (hopefully last) elusive bug.

cheers
