HP 50g User's Guide - Printed Version - dizzy - 03-25-2014 01:18 PM

So after the success of the project to get the Advanced User's Reference into print, there is some interest in doing the same with the User's Guide.

This thread is to keep track of interest. As before, 10-20 people will make the project viable. The price should be similar to last time (~£16 GBP), although the User's Guide is a bit longer.

So if you're interested in having a copy of the giant HP 50g User's Guide, spiral bound and in A5 format, here's your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. :-)

Count me in again please!

The pdf is nearly 200 pages longer than the AUR, so maybe needs three volumes this time?

Count me in.

I suggest that we include the table of contents and the index in each volume. I have home-made letter-sized copies where I didn't do this and it's a pain to keep switching back and forth to try to find something.

I think this is a good idea.

It's worth considering, but splitting into three will certainly bump up the cost. I haven't looked at the manual yet to consider how best to split it.

Had some idle time so here's my 2 pennies..

I think if you were to split at chapter 14 you should end up with around 230 and 225 sheets in each volume allowing for the contents to be doubled up. Having tried pushing the ones you already so successfully made for us together (adding 37 sheets from vol II into vol I) I think this may just about fit within two volumes. Additionally adding the 10 sheets for the index into both volumes may just push it over the edge. YMMV.

An alternative could be to split at chapter 13 and add the index to volume I, and not bother with the contents in vol II, and this may also be doable?

It is certainly quite tight whichever way you go, but it would in my opinion be nice to keep it to two volumes both for cost and practicality.

Cheers, Terje

When I printed these, I split it with the second volume starting at chapter 13. It was fairly even, with the second volume being just slightly longer. I also added blank pages after some of the chapters to ensure that the right hand pages are always the odd-numbered pages.

Given the excellent quality of the AUR, I'm in for a user's guide as well.
