Sign me up for one V5 CL board and one time module. I've been on the fence about a CL for a while and now I just can't resist.

Dave

Another convert!!! :-)

Thanks a lot Neve, Didier and Rprosperi.

I will commit for one time module only for this time.

Cheers!

JL

Ok, now Monte HAS to get to work! LOL

The batch of V5 boards shipped to the assembly house yesterday. They should
be back in a month, and then it's a week or so to solder the piezo buzzer and
program the programmable logic. This has taken all of the available funds, so
I won't be starting Time modules until after I recoup enough to fund that
project. I have made that design a little more general. It should be possible
to program this little board to be the interface for a GPS receiver, or an SD
card, or a combination X-functions/double X-memory in place of the Time
module. It's only one-time programmable before anyone asks. I'll probably
be working on designing the GPS interface (basically a UART with big buffers
and buffer management) while waiting for the V5 boards to get back.

I don’t understand what you mean. What does that mean “one-time programmable”?
Do you mean it’s not upgradable?
What are these different options? Could you be more specific?
Does this mean that you can either ship the board to be a GPS interface OR an SD card interface?
Does this also mean you would work on an X-functions/double X-memory instead of the long-awaited Time Module and never come out with it?

This is very unclear to me.

The design is first and foremost a Time Module clone. The FPGA is programmable
one time, meaning it cannot be altered once programmed. That's why it will be
a while before it is ready; I have to make sure the design is correct before I
start shipping stuff. I have people lined up to serve as beta testers already.

The different options didn't cost anything. I noticed that the hardware would
be able to support those different options with just a minor change to the
board layout, so I included that change in the board design. The other options
I mentioned may or may not ever come to fruition. Time Module is the number
one priority.

When can we place our orders for the V5 CL board?
Cheers

I'd like to sign up for one of the V5 CL boards and one of the time modules also. Thanks,
Rob

You can submit an order form at any time. An order form guarantees a spot in
the queue. I have five order forms in hand now. Order forms do not include the
Time Module clone. That won't be added until after the beta testing is complete.

Monte,

Is the order form the one at your website?

Geoff

I downloaded it from your website (provided it’s still the correct one), and will send it back to you ASAP.

Thank you

FYI: Monte has started shipping 4 days ago his new 41CL v5 board. (see here) Smile

Indeed! I’m expecting mine hopefully next week.

Same thing for me. Smile
I suggest that you to follow the 41CL update thread and read the current v5 warning.

I received my V5 board on Thursday, and installed it today. Everything went just as expected (including the expected broken post needing repair prior to reassembly) and it's up and running, and configured the way I like it.

Looking forward to doing a CL-to-CL update soon.

Thanks Monte for another generation of these great CL machines!

I received my V5 board today (my first) and upgraded my CV to a CL. It was pretty easy. The posts were all in good shape. The only gotchya was that I had the old style connector that looks like styrofoam, but with some care and patience, I was able to transfer it without damage. Boy is this going to be fun!

Thanks a million Monte.

I managed to mess up some of the pages in the V5 Flash image. Also, the UPDAT-3A
software has a bug specific to V5. This is explained, along with how to fix things, in
this write-up:

http://www.systemyde.com/pdf/b71191.pdf

I've corrected the problems, and anything shipped from today on will have the
correct images in Flash memory and the new UPDAT-3B. Sorry about that.
