HP 50G Zero Key Registers On Release - rootee - 06-08-2016 09:23 PM

On the HP 50G, I'm seeing that the zero-key doesn't register until it's been "released", while the other number keys register immediately when pressed.

I've been using the 50G for years now, and hadn't noticed this behavior until today, after enabling "Key Click" (MODE->Key Click, "Beep" has to be enabled as well for the key click to sound). The audible "click" doesn't sound until the key registers, which is on release for the zero-key, so to me it seemed like zero had a noticeable input lag; I.e. lag from key press to audible click.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior on their 50G? And, anyone know why functionally the zero-key would register on release, while the other numbers [1, 9] register on press?

Not so on my HP50G. The Zero key registers when pressed, not when released.

Confirm same as Günter

Like Günter and Bob, my 0 key registers the same as the other keys. I even tried a full memory clear just to see if resetting the status of the system would make a difference. It didn't.

The ON key, on the other hand, sounds a beep upon release. But it actually performs an interrupt as soon as it's pressed, despite the timing of the key click.

Thanks, guys, for the feedback. I also confirmed on my circa 2008 50g that the zero key registers when "pressed", so something must be wrong with the h/w on this new calc, bummer. Got it recently on Amazon (for a steal $45), so it's going back for replacement.
