Silver on an HP-35 - bshoring - 04-08-2016 11:06 PM Has anyone tried touching up the silver bar above the on/off switch on their HP-35 calculators? I have an HP-35 that is otherwise in great shape, only that the silver is worn above the switch as shown below. I am not very handy nor artistic, so I don't want to do anything to ruin what I have but I am curious if anyone has successfully restored the silver paint. Thanks! RE: Silver on an HP-35 - Didier Lachieze - 04-08-2016 11:44 PM Not on an HP-35, but on a 55. Before and after : I've used a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen: See this post for some more details. RE: Silver on an HP-35 - bshoring - 04-09-2016 05:10 PM Thank you so much Didier. Silver and gold both worked here - striegel - 04-13-2016 12:48 AM Thanks to this hint, I have what I've been seeking for a while. Both the silver leafing pen and 18 kt. gold leafing pen work well. I used the Krylon silver leafing pen to return the color to the 15C logo on my well-worn device. The Krylon 18Kt. gold leafing pen did just as well on an old 12C's logo and improved the display bezel on a TI-55. Before this I've tried Pentel metallic gel pens and Speedball Metal Leaf Adhesive Pen with actual metal leaf. Neither one was permanent nor looked close to original. Just make sure you have some alcohol & Q-tips ready in case you miss your target. Thanks for the suggestion! |
