A prospect wp35s was recently discussed in this forum. We all know sooner than later HP30b stocks will be run out, and I just wonder whether wp34s' creators have talked about any plans for its reincarnation as a new HW. IMHO it would be a bit of a shame this great project got closed, forgotten, and just remembered by means of an emulator... may be some might think such is life.
According to some posts in this forum, it seems today's Swissmicros' models don't fit wp34s' memory needs. Wouldn't this mean HP12C is the only true candidate available in production? Display and keyboard in the latter would require some (deep?) firmware surgery for good.
Which improvements, if any, might be included thanks to such new HW?

There is another route that *may* be promising. At the moment it lacks enough Flash memory and RAM to implement the full wp34s code base and a 3D printed case is not quite done yet but the display is very good and it may yet evolve.

Steve, thanks for the information. I wasn't aware of such progress in NP41 project. It really looks very promising.
So it seems to me it all depends on the amount of effort it could take to adapt wp34s into that new body AND the prospect popular demand AND the prospect interest of wp34s' Jedis in such reincarnation.

LOL, maybe at some point we get lucky and HP throws the community a bone with an HP41 anniversary issue, and it has technology in it that allows for reflashing like the 30B ?

Let's cross our fingers... though we would need to wait until 2019 for its 40th anniversary :.!
As noted by Steve above, the NP41 could mean a really promising body for the wp34s' soul :o)

As for the 35s we should wait until 2020 for its 41st anniversary...
