Movie Sighting of HP-97 - Zoom Thyristor - 12-11-2015 01:21 AM I had an account here long ago, so long ago that I don't even remember my username. Anyway, I re-registered just to post this. Last night, my wife and I were watching "Magic Beyond Words", a movie about J.K. Rowling (the Harry Potter lady), on Netflix. About 2/3 through the movie, when J.K. Rowling is mailing off her first Harry Potter manuscript, you can clearly see not one but two HP-97s on a table behind the postal clerk. They're visible for just a second before the camera cuts away. I am not sure why a post office in Britain in 1995 would have or need an HP-97, but there you go. For me, it was much the highlight of the film. RE: Movie Sighting of HP-97 - Katie Wasserman - 12-11-2015 01:42 AM I just looked for this, it's at timestamp 1:03:47 on Netflix. Yep two of them, regular HP-97 not the 's' version. Did the British PO ever use the HP97, they look like unlikely props. RE: Movie Sighting of HP-97 - d b - 12-11-2015 02:28 AM For a J. K. Rowling documentary, I would have expected an HP-45. Any HP calculator will do, anything else is for Muggles. (I know nothing about Harry Potter but I do geocache and Muggles is used to indicate non-geocaching people.) So you chose a new one. Which leads to the question if you might be a fan of good old Vivitar flash guns. ?-) Dieter, still owning a 365. |
