30b Spare Battery - Dave Frederickson - 12-03-2015 03:10 AM

I opened a new 30b the other day to make a WP 34S. I had purchased the calc just after it was announced at HHC 2014 that the 30b had been discontinued.

I was surprised to discover that the calculator had only one battery contact.

So it looks like BT1 is a spare!

BTW, HP Calculator Support won't replace the calculator, even though it's an obvious manufacturing defect, because the warranty expired two months ago. Sad

But Dave, think how much it will go for on ebay in a couple of years: unique exclusive one-of-a-kind rare unusual limited edition........

Is it working OK on a single battery?

I believe so. In addition, the 20b schematic states that "Battery Holder-One is optional". Smile
