Hide and protect source code in HP Prime - raider - 05-06-2015 12:46 PM

Hi,

I am new to this forum. Have just bought the HP Prime a week ago mainly for its programming features. I have used a Casio 9860G for the past 6 years.

Is there a way to hide and protect the source code when we put these into the calculator? I would like to share some programs with my colleagues but some codes are sensitive and I would like to avoid people looking into the actual source.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks

Not to be a spoiler, but while your code may be a secret (known only to you), it is known otherwise: Ecclesiastes 1:9. If you share it, others might benefit, if you don't, still others already knew it, know it, or will know it. So profit if you can, but don't be too disappointed if the path to your door is not so well beaten.

On the other hand, great customer service has it's rewards: source code is visible in the Prime.

You need a 50G to have your programs stored as binary objects. Unfortunately the Prime does not have that capability yet.

Thanks John for that info.

You can try to obfuscate the code with primecomm, open your hpprgm, send to menu -> preferences, enable additional processing, obfuscate, remove comments, compress spaces and remove line breaks. Then, send to menu again and "browse destination" to export the obfuscated version.

Thanks eried. I did not know this and this would be useful.

When I saved the file and opened it back up it looked exactly the same.
With all the blank lines, comments, etc, etc

Do not save it, send it using the "send" menu to a folder

that's what I meant.
Nothing is in the Folder after selecting the Folder.

Well there you go. You can't get any more hidden than that Smile

Ahhhh!

Actually, the program says "sending files..." and that stays on the screen endlessly. But nothing happens.
