What would cause a slight amount of "leakage" on the right most segments. In other words, a couple of the segments lite faintly.

Would it be the anode or cathode driver chips or the LED modules.

I have had three experiences on the classics with the three LED digit blocks. In all cases the problem was solved by swapping blocks with a donor board. Perhaps I have been lucky in that the problem was the block and not the drivers.

Doesn't quite answer your question. Although these are sealed, there can be contamination from out gassing NiCd or alkaline batteries.
