Question about the HP9825 - Namir - 11-07-2014 04:12 AM

What is the difference between the HP9825A and the HP9825B? Aside from the additional memory in the 9825B, does this model have other ROMs built in?

The 'B' model had the large full-travel keys, the earlier 'A' models had the low profile keys (like the 9815). I think that somewhere mid-production HP switched the 'A' model to full-travel keys.

The major differences where the extra built-in ROMs in the 'B'. It had lots more functionality that were only options in the 'A'. I'm not sure, but I think that all the ROMs that were optional for the 'A' (advanced programming, matrix operations, i/o, etc.) were built into the 'B'.

I recently acquired a refurbished HP9825B and it came with a Matrix ROM. I also purchased a String Variable ROM from eBay. Hope these ROMs make programming the new little beast fun!

I was wrong about the built-in ROMs in the 'B', it doens't have the matrix ROM built-in but it does have the others. The String ROM will be redundant, if you plug it in.

Here's the definitive statement on what's included with the 'B'.
