HP 12c Platinum battery cover stuck tight - Peter Murphy - 09-21-2023 03:17 AM

It's the 25th Anniversary Edition.

Pretty determined pushing and shoving has not budged the cover.

Batteries good, tests passed -- but it would be nice to open the cover.

Suggestions welcome.

I just got the same model also from China, and the cover is super tight, cannot open it by hand.

I had a "spudger" tool used to remove the screen / face from tablets and phones. It is a stiff plastic stick with an angled thin flat edge, used to get into a thin crack and pry open the cover. I managed to get the edge of the tool in the crack and pull it forward. After it got started it, the cover came off. (I put it back on and it is once again stuck tight). I pretty much ruined the edge of the plastic spudger in the process.

You might take the calculator to a computer shop and ask them if they have a spudger that you can use or if they can pop the cover loose for you, when the battery needs to be replaced.
