HP 34C Faceplate - Marcel Samek - 05-03-2023 11:20 PM

I just got my hands on a working 34C which I have been wanting for a long time. The paint on the faceplate has been worn off in a couple small areas. I was wondering how the faceplate is attached and whether replacing it (if I were to manage to find a replacement in better shape) is easy.

There seems to be no shortage of non-working 34C calculators available for parts, but does someone know of a source that might just have the faceplates available?

Seems there are 2 types of faceplates for the Spice series. One is smooth and the other is 'grainy' . The second one I believe came out after the first. It's also the one that shows wear more easily from fingers. It is possible to replace them and refinish them. And even get new ones made. The 34C was the most desired machine of the series - so examples will be hard to come by - especially for fully working examples given the quality issues with them.
