WP34S exponential - LarryJ - 08-14-2014 05:39 PM

Question for Walter b, if available:

Nice job on the 34S, I'm using it on Ipad mini, your update 1.6, and can't seem to get the exponential function (y^x, top row third key) to work properly. For example, [8] [Enter] [2] [y^x] calculates 2.0002 instead of 64. The "360" and "RPN" flags (only) are displayed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

What happens when you execute:
[8] [ENTER] [2] [XEQ] [C]

Do you have a label C in your current program?

RE: WP34S exponential - LarryJ - 08-14-2014 09:16 PM

Thanks Thomas...I cleared the sub I had stored in C, and the function now works. I've been thru the manual, to the extent you can on a mini, and don't see a list of off-limits labels. I do see the label mentioned tho' in the iop entry for y ^x, but can't tell whether I've violated a cardinal rule by using C, or just happened upon a coincidental issue....

Quote:[A], [B], [C] and [D] are named hotkeys – calling directly the user programs carrying these labels. Take your chance to make up to four of your favorite functions directly accessible. Unless the respective labels are defined, these keys act as [Σ+], [1/x], [\(y^x\)] or [\(\sqrt{x}\)], respectively, as is printed above them.

Got it -- thanks again.

While this is certainly true, I believe there's also some moderation going on... Wink

If I understand the new sticky post in the general forum, it would appear that there is some communal moderation going on.

Seems sometimes you're just due to get a gift - call it holidays if you like. But since everything was fully transparent, unambiguously based on universal laws, a shining example of civilized, consistent, and comprehensible communication and treatment as we can expect it here, I can't complain.

d:-)

I prior times, people used to say "the Lord's ways are inscrutable" - if I looked that up correctly. I think I stick to Platon instead:

Can't help it but when I saw said post it reminded me of something we covered in history classes way back. Confused Hope that off-the-cuff association doesn't qualify me for the next gift on this forum.

<<<MODERATOR'S NOTE: You're not qualified for that yet Walter, but with more warnings, moderated time-outs, thread closings, post and thread deletions than all of us other 1100+ members put together; you'll probably get there. I would wonder if this was all just me, if it were not being "done to you" by three different moderators and often at the request of other members. You could avoid that in the future by noting whether something you are writing is something you would like to have said to you. If not; don't hit the "post reply" button. -db >>>>

Walter, are you that full of yourself or is it that I don't understand your sense of humor? Please, I really want to understand.

I'm closing this thread now. This has nothing to do with your post Mark.
