It seems that there is an initiative in internet archive to preserve digital devices of the past including calculators.
They have presented this in a blog post https://blog.archive.org/2023/01/29/a-calculated-move-calculators-now-emulated-at-internet-archive/

It is a very nice initiative and those calculators are available to run in the browser. There is a variety of calculators supported and they can be found in

https://archive.org/details/calculatordrawer

I thought it might be interesting for some people here.

The SX arguably has a nicer "classic" look but the GX has significant software improvements and language extensions. It does seem odd that they include both the 48GX and 48G+ since they are essentially identical from the perspective of emulation.

The SX Keys is a little bit better, but the G, G+ and GX are superior, IMHO.

I have a SX with black display, a really joy. But unfortunately the heat of summer in my city toasted the display. It's fixable, someday I will send it repair.

By the way, it's a vey nice site.

Cheers

JL

Ars Techica has a brief article on this that was published today.

I have seen this initiative mentioned in multiple news site. It seems everyone has a sweet spot for their calculators even when they do not spend time talking about them.

Most news sites need click counts for their ad companies so they will report anything.

I guess I'm partial to the SX over the GX since thats what I own.
