RE: CASIO fx-991CW - lrdheat - 03-03-2023 07:43 PM

My preorder of the 991CW was supposed to arrive today (March 3). Just got a message from Amazon saying it is delayed, confirm that I am still interested. They say that they will email me when it is ready to ship…

On CASIO UK available: https://www.casio.co.uk/calculators/education/scientific

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - ijabbott - 03-04-2023 08:52 PM

Here is another UK stockist of the CW models: https://www.studentcalculators.co.uk/. Their prices are cheaper than the casio.co.uk store. They cater mostly to the bulk school market. Personally, I can wait until they are more widely available from the more mainstream online retailers.

Note 1: It seems the EX models are being phased out as end-of-line.

Note 2: They also stock the TI-30X Pro MathPrint.

I see Science studio is doing the 911Cw now it appears to be the cheapest in the uk, that i have seen but post can up that.

Hmm, in the Manual under "Math Box" you can find "Coin Toss" and "Dice Roll" only, but in the leaflet from an UK store (https://www.studentcalculators.co.uk/pdf/CW%20Launch.pdf) you can found additionally "Number Line" and "Circle" apps.

Something other difference(s) if someone own this calc?!

Interesting. My 570CW has only Coin Toss and Dice Roll. And Korean manual covering 570CW and 991CW has same too. Looks like UK-selling fx-991CW is different although has same model name.

Same as fx-991CW + periodic table
English selectable (and Vietnamese)
Manual: https://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/004/fx-880BTG_EN.pdf

Interesting, it's also got number line and unit circle tools in the Math Box mode.

Still haven't seen the CW available anywhere in the US yet.

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - critor - 03-05-2023 11:31 AM

The Math Box app can include up to 4 different sub-apps :
  • dice roll
  • coin toss
  • number line
  • unit circle
Their avaibility depends on the model and its localization. Not all CW calculators have them, even among the higher-end models.

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - Eddie W. Shore - 03-06-2023 01:46 PM

Casio fx-991CW is set to come to the United States in March 2023:

https://www.casio.com/us/scientific-calculators/product.FX-991CW/?intaid=recentlyviewed_favorites

Currently on the 6th, there is a Notify Me box instead of Buy It. I'll keep checking. The price is set to be $21.00.

Just in time for my birthday? (14th)

Manual: https://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/004/fx-570CW_991CW_EN.pdf

For the Math Box we will get the Dice Roll and Coin Toss. Still no periodic table.

Indeed, the fx-83GT CW and fx-85GT CW have all four mathbox apps. Perhaps they took up too much ROM space needed for other stuff on the fx-991CW, or perhaps they want you to buy two calculators. Smile

The 4 sub-apps are included in german version fx-991DE CW also (page 158)
https://support.casio.com/global/de/calc/manual/fx-87DECW_991DECW/

This version has 605 functions and costs 25,85 euro

Still waiting for the calculator to become available in the United States.

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - Eddie W. Shore - 03-28-2023 01:50 AM

The fx-991CW is now available in the United States. Naturally I end up buying two (silly me).

Thanks for the tip! I might have to order one if I get impatient waiting for them to show up at Target or whatever.

It looks like the Japanese version, with the Periodic Table function, is available on Amazon too. A bit pricey for my tastes (about $70), but it looks great. Different model number entirely, but clearly the same base calc as the FX-991EX family. It apparently has a couple other functions such as GCM and LCD, but unclear whether it has the MathBox features. It appears you can switch it into English too, although three of the keys have Japanese legends on them. Anyhow, it's here:

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - compsystems - 03-28-2023 07:09 PM

Hello, the keyboard functions look very well placed and are easy on the eyes. I just wish the rekey symbol (⌊) was a different color than the label, because it's a bit confusing.

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - Csaba Tizedes - 03-29-2023 03:16 PM

In the fx-991CW THERE IS NO CALC!!!
You can't evaluate expressions like on 991EX. If someone found it pls post here!

Damn! The most important function is removed...! I want my money back! Without CALC this calculator is useless!

Cs.

update: on fx-880BTG there IS CALC!!!
update2: on fx-991CW the num solver works for variable x ONLY! I don't believe it is happened! Who was that stupid product manager who accepted these things...?!?!?!?

RE: CASIO fx-991CW - thenozone - 03-29-2023 09:56 PM

I managed to resist the temptation and got a 83gtcw, had hoped it would remember data on switch off, but doesn't even if you let it sleep, have too many cg20 and cg50s , don't forget that the German calculator is in German with a German manual; google cant get the symbols correctly if you try to translate. none of the English models I have seen so far have the periodic table that some have been looking out for. over in the UK you can get a second hand cg20 for £25, a much better deal ( has periodic table etc but not a proper UK exam mode, cuts out some of the permitted vector functions)and possibly easier to read than the new CW991cw, on my 83gtw it is almost a transparent blue on black. if you subscribe to the Casio newsletter they keep you up to date, see snap about us distribution.
