Et à l’an que vèn que se siam pas mai, que siguem pas mens.
Comme on dit ici en provence.

In american it means :

Good end of year and if, in the new year coming, we are not more people in our family, hope nobody will not is dead.
My american language is not good, right ?

Gérard, your English is better than my French.

In the early 80’s I went on a ClubMed holiday to French-speaking Martinique. Each evening for dinner we were seated by language. Bored having to sit with my fellow Americans every night, I wanted to join a French-speaking table. So when the maître d asked how many are in my party, I replied in my best French accent, “Un,” and he said: “Ah, English-speaking!”. Even one word of attempted French gave me away!

Best wishes for a Happy New year!
