HP50g black or blue ? - ggauny@live.fr - 11-29-2022 10:27 AM

Hello all,

Since 2008 I'm an happy owner of a HP 50g, but I see blue one on some sites.
Is there a difference between the two versions ? May be contrast, may be the blue is more recent then the black ... ?

Thanks and good day.

Functionally, the blue and black 50g are identical. A colored version was made for sales in certain countries (Spain and Portugal IIRC). Because the blue units are relatively rare, they tend to demand higher prices, and have a keyboard color scheme which is arguably easier to read in various lighting conditions. As for collecting, the only choice is acquire both of them. Smile

My blue one comes from Spain (Barcelona I guess).

I don't know if I'm allowed to be more precise…
… but I'm sure that everone knows. Wink

Hello!

And why would that be? Many of us are collecting these things and persons who maybe want to start a collection are certainly interested to know where they can find old and new calculators. This kind of information is one of the reasons why internet forums are what they are!
The shop you are afraid to mention is one of the few, maybe even the only one in the world, that specialises in calculators from HP. And even more importantly: They have spare parts and accessories for these calculators and even a repair service.

Regards
Max

NB: The unmentionable shop is called "The Calculator Store" :-)

This was just in case the forum rules ask not to advertise.

So, the unmentionable is now mentionable…

O tempora, o mores !

Don't worry, there is no such rule :-) (With the only exception that one must not post links to other shopping sites in the classifieds section).

Hi, all, {all highlighting is mine}

The Calculator Store also has an excellent, very detailed "Calculator Blog" section (in English) which makes for fascinating and productive reading, and which has mentioned my articles and my programs oftentimes, this is the most recent instance:
    Valentin Albilllo's programs ROM
I make reference to this post from Ángel Martin, the developer of so many ROMs that we love to use (the Sandmath series of ROMs have been a permanent plug in my HP41CL memory). It includes some of the programs and exercises created by Valentín. While we are always in search of interesting programs, I bet that you will like more the accompanying articles. These are also referenced in Ángel Martín's article [...]
One of the most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable people there is José González Divasson, who's been posting here in the MoHPC fora since 2014 under the alias Divasson.

The Calculator Store's site is (at the very least) bilingual English-Spanish, full of interesting materials and the physical store is located in Barcelona (Spain). Should you have the chance, paying them a virtual/presential visit is highly recommended, as is contacting them and/or Divasson himself. Smile

Note: It goes without saying that I have no relationship of any kind with TCS, other than sheer admiration.

Hello!

So rule #1: "There is no such rules."
… kidding (again) Wink

Thanks you Max for clarification!

I second Valentin's comments; I bought a 41CL from José, and their support has been exemplary.
