plotting residuals with Resid - Wes Loewer - 09-24-2021 03:01 PM

A student asked me yesterday how to plot residuals of an x-y scatter plot. I recommended using something like

Resid(S1)▶C3 (or usually just Resid▶C3)

I noticed that using Resid(S1) gives an error message when S1 is not selected (✓) in the Symb screen to make it "active." It would be nice to be able to use Resid(S1) even when S1 is inactive. If that were possible, you could easily plot the residual by itself from within the dialog box.

As it is now, you can only plot the residual if the S1 is selected which then shows both plots instead of just the residual. If S1 unselected as shown above, you get an "Invalid Input" error.
