HP-35 50th - teenix - 05-13-2021 06:34 AM Hi all, It is a bit early but I wasn't sure when I would get it going. There was (is) no rush but due to work delays, component supply delays etc etc, it took about 6 months to get going. It is an A1 sized poster featuring working HP-35bug/35/45/55/65/67/70/80 calculators. The keys aren't mechanical but are touch sensors that work by touching over the keys on the glass front panel. The display features the full 15 digits with the decimal point in the centre of the CDEG LED segments just like the real Classic displays. It doesn't have external memory storage but can store up to 7 programs total for the 55, 65 and 67. The calculator menu is accessed the same as my CPU replacement boards and has wired connectivity to a PC program via FTDI and USB port to transfer data and reprogram. The poster print is just an idea and cannot be sold as I don't own the photos, but is ok for private use. I just created it in Publisher and had it printed. It also has a feint enlarged HP-35 ACT chip overlaid on the base of the image. To make it a bit more versatile, it has a digital clock in 12/24 hour mode and because the power supply is a simple AC mains transformer, the clock timing is derived from the mains frequency and can be programmed for 50 or 60Hz operation. Having the other models built in means any of the available calculators can have a working poster made up if desired. I've been thinking of a oversized card transport for the 65 and 67 but may be overkill. Lots of wiring so a horrible thing to assemble :-) cheers Tony RE: HP-35 50th - Massimo Gnerucci - 05-13-2021 06:56 AM Niiiiiiiiiiiice! RE: HP-35 50th - Karl-Ludwig Butte - 05-13-2021 07:16 AM Hi Tony, that is an absolute fabulous idea! Do you plan to share the construction details here in the forum or on your homepage? That would be great. Best regards Karl RE: HP-35 50th - rprosperi - 05-13-2021 12:36 PM Nice project Tony!! Opposite of the original, installing overlays for each model would be quite easy, while carrying them in a shirt pocket not so much. It is based mainly on surface mount parts, but all the pads on the circuit boards are enlarged to make soldering a bit easier. cheers Tony RE: HP-35 50th - aurelio - 05-14-2021 03:48 PM Congrats Tony, more than a living poster: an artistic work a unique project to be exhibited in the Museum RE: HP-35 50th - teenix - 06-04-2021 07:14 AM Hi all, I posted the HP-35 Anniversary Poster details to teenix.org I won't be supplying a kit but the parts are easy to get, so it is a build it yourself project. There are some surface mount parts, but all PCB pads have been enlarged to make construction a bit easier. The PIC processor is a 64 pin surface mount type and may be difficult for some to solder to the board. The PCB designs are included in Gerber format and can be sent as is to a fabricator. If there is enough interest (min 5 sets) I can order the PCBs for the project and mail sets of PCBs. If desired, I can also send them with the PIC pre-mounted and preprogrammed ready to go. An image of the display board is attached. cheers Tony RE: HP-35 50th - ThomasF - 06-04-2021 09:04 AM (06-04-2021 07:14 AM)teenix Wrote: Hi all, Hi Tony! Looks nice and interesting!
