emu48 hp48gx serial calculator connect vspe virtual serial posts emulator - Yellow - 07-28-2020 02:52 PM

I use on a windows 10/64 emu48 with a hp 48gx.

I'd like to use the hp48g calculator connect software to talk to the emulator.
I use vspe - virtial serial ports emulator (latest version).

I get transmission errors.

Does anyone know why there are errors? What can I do?
Is there another method to connect them together?

Thanks for your reply

Check this out, it usually works, though I've not tried it for this exact scenario.

Thankx,

It works - Using https://www.virtual-serial-port.org . Virtial Serial Port Driver ver 9.0 build 9.0.575 by Eltima.com

The Eltima software tells me that the emu48 uses 9600-N-8-2.
And the connectivity kit (HP version2.3 build 2439) uses 9600-N-8-1.

It would be nice if one could change it in the EMU48 with the HP 48GX. Or did I missed something in the settings in the HP48GX?

I had to deselect the CTS pin in the Eltima software ver 9.0 before it worked.

I could not deselect pins in the VSPE software (Eterlogic). Perhaps thats the reason why it did not work? Or has it to do with the difference between the stop bits? I have send them an email and now I'm waiting for an answer.

Well,

I wrote too soon.

It does connect, but now I get errors. Humm. No idea why....

Bob don't meant the Eltima software, he meant com0com. I don't know what the link has to do on the com0com page.

To the 2 Stop bits, the real HP48 use two stop bits, look at https://hp.giesselink.com/Pict/UART/StopBit.htm please. Two stop bits give the receiver more time to handle the received byte.

It appears to be a stealthy advertisement for a commercial product. Sad to see sites like Sourceforge and Github (now owned by Microsoft!) sinking to such depths.

The com0com seems to work. https://sourceforge.net/projects/com0com/

Thanks for all your help.
