HP-16C manual size - cdmackay - 12-13-2019 12:44 AM

hi all,

I've just received an HP-16C in nice condition. Better yet, it came with a paper manual, in the same condition.

I'm delighted to find the manual is an April 1984 Rev D. edition, whereas the only PDF ones I've ever seen are April 1982 (if anyone knows where to find an '84 PDF, or later…).

But I'm a little surprised at the size of the manual: roughly 7″h x 5″w (17x12cm).

Were all the Voyager paper manuals this smaller size?

The 1982 HP12C manual, 246 pp., is the same size as yours. Since all the Pioneer manuals I have are consistent in size with each other, I assume all the Voyagers are as well (not that I have any!)

Yes, all the original Voyager manuals were the same size, as well as the 15C Advanced Functions Handbook and the 11C and 12C Solutions Handbooks. Later versions of 12C manuals came in differing sizes, and some late Voyager manuals were perfect bound instead of spiral-bound, though still the same size.

There were also some slightly larger copies sold near the very end of life of some models (I've seen 11C, heard of others); these typically had a tan/light brownish color cover, and were printed in small lots by HP to match existing stock for final shipments (rather than having the required large qty lots printed by the normal contract printers).

thanks very much both; fascinating!

I've got three Voyagers now, and have looked at the PDF manuals dozens, if not hundreds of times, but never realised that the paper manuals for them aren't the "normal" 8½″ high that are the rest of my HP manuals (from 41 to 50g), and indeed my Casio manuals too.

This new 16C manual is indeed perfect bound; now I want to get my hands on the 15C ones, but not at the usual prices.

thanks again.
