You have to wonder sometimes, "What are they thinking?" This is a "vintage Casio HP Fx Stationary Pocket", apparently.

It looks like some sort of HP 9s clone to me, but it looks like it's seen better days!

I got one of those at the 99¢ Store a long time ago, because I was surprised at the number of features. It still works perfectly! Although it displays 10 digits, internally the mantissa is 12 digits. The colorful rubber strips on the sides look funny but they make an excellent hand grip, and they hold the cover in place. Excellent display. All in all, not bad for one buck!

Truth be told, it's probably the other way round. The HP 9s is probably an OEM Casio.

Actually, I don't know what it is a clone of, but the "a" and "b" buttons reminded me of the HP 9s.

Thanks for identifying it, Pekis. It doesn't look bad, function-wise, but it would be better if they cloned the EL 506A instead! The "poopiest" reference was more to do with calculator in the picture looking like it had been pulled from a dumpster. The packaging looks like it would have been a cardboard and plastic blister pack, originally. (Some guy on ebay has a batch of these for sale. You'd think he'd clean it up a bit for the photo!)

On a number of these the STAT function does nothing. I was lucky that the one I bought works the way the manual says it should. A few weeks later, a person from this forum asked me to buy one for him (he insisted on paying me for it) and I bought one from the same store (Dollar Tree) where I bought mine and the STAT function no longer worked. I went back to the store once more and tried all the calculators on the display and none of them had a working STAT function. Oh well, for 99¢ what can you expect?
