However, I wonder if this "1" really is a sure sign of a correctly recorded card track. Maybe the calculator displays this although no data have been written.

The TI-59 experts here will know more.

Yes, the 1 indicates the card was written in bank 1.

I just recorded a program in bank 2, the result after the recording is 2.

Attached is a picture of two of my cards, with and without arrows.

The top one is non-magnetic. The calculator doesn't do much checking on write, I guess.

Having seen the inside of a TI-59 card reader I do not see how it could be possible for it to do any kind of read after write checking. There is only one head and it cannot write and read at the same time, this is also true of the readers in HP 65, 67, 97 and 41. I am sure it is like a lot of things in computers where an operation is started and if the thing does not explode in flames, the operation is deemed successful.

I only have the cards left. The TI 59 and its printer died a while ago.
The top two cards are magnetic, the others are not. All of these cards came with the TI 59 many years ago. The non-magnetic blank cards are totally useless for a TI 59, but they were part of the package anyway.

Thanks!

With yours, Paul and Tommy posts, all doubts are clarified and registered.

Only the cards with arrows are magnetic and so, writable.

Thanks again!
