Looses time and date - HP-dude - 12-21-2018 10:47 PM

I just got a HP Prime and to my surprise the date and time resets to default (2000-01-01 00:00) after it has been turned off over night. Is this a feature or defect?

Grateful for some advise.

Sounds a bit funny.
Definetly not a "feature".

Have you tried to connect it to your PC with the Connkit open? It should take the time and date from your PC. Then, if the battery is OK, it should keep the time/date for however how long as log as the battery doesn't turn depleted.
I've had mine in off state for more than 3 weeks without losing time/date and the battery has held it's charge throughout.

I connected it to my PC and ran an update of the firmware. After doing that it has not lost time or date. Strange.

Thanks for your answer.

I spoke too soon. It held time only one night... Contacted HP support and they said that they have not seen that issue before.

Just noticed that it could be a mechanial issue. I tapped on the side of it with my finger and it turned off and the clock reset. It may be when I put on and off the cover that some loose connection breaks.
