(18C) Work Sampling Survey Size - SlideRule - 11-27-2018 03:45 PM

extract from the Working with your Business Consultant Professional Calculator series,
Manufacturing Consultant

formula
SSIZE=NORM^2÷(%ACC÷100)^2×(1-#OCC÷#OBS)÷#OCC×#OBS

where
SSIZE = sample size
NORM = normal distribution value
%ACC = desired accuracy
#OCC = number of occurrences
#OBS = number of observations

Work sampling can be used to collect information about work flow
and idle time. The formula below helps determine the number of
operations needed to assure that your work sampling will give you
accurate results. This formula assumes that you have made a small
number of observations and thus have a preliminary estimate of the
survey results
.
