There are many ways to measure productivity. This section looks at
productivity as a ratio of outputs to inputs - an index - with a single resource.

Labor is a comon resource for productivity measurement. The ratio
of output, in units or dollars, to labor input, in units or dollars, results in a
productivity index that indicates whether labor productivity is increasing or
decreasing.
