Dear Walter,

a small recommendation for cosmetic improvement before printing your manuals and biting your rear end afterwards.

I noticed that the page layout footer at least of version 3.1 is not adopted to odd/even pages. A perfect book should have e.g. the page numbers moved towards the outer edge of the printing area.
Also making the margins asymmetric would improve handling. Maybe an older HP manual could be a good guideline.
For those who cannot make up their mind, one can also center the page numbers, like on a HP 15C manual that I just checked out. But even this manual has the page headers with the chapter titles asymmetric.

If you are using MS-Word, this can be accomplished quite easily in the page setup options and the effort should be minimal compared to what you have already put into this piece of literature.

Another recommendation: make sure with your copy shop that any spiral binding is not too tight. If the spiral is too small in diameter the pages rub against each other when opening and this is almost as bad as a"perfect bound" paperback binding.

If the page header/footer modification could be done, I would also order one spiral bound version of the WP 34S manual.

Thank you,
Martin

Things are getting ready. Those of you who placed an order for a WP 34S v3.3 spiral bound manual will get a PM from me very soon. Since we're close to 30 books now, printing cost will be 3 € less per manual - so I can pass it to you for 25 € or 34 US$ plus shipping. Smile

d:-)

P.S.: Anyone wanting to hop on the bandwagon do it now - else you've to wait for another minimum number of subscribents accumulating.

I'd be interested in buying one of each.

RE: [34S v3.3, 31S v1.2] Manuals - walter b - 05-30-2014 05:47 PM

The PMs are sent. Anyone who wanted to get a WP 34S v3.3 spiral bound manual and didn't receive a PM from me - please speak up.

No WP 31S manuals in that package since we didn't pass the lower limit yet.

d:-)

P.S.: Please don't forget a physical manual needs a physical shipping address. Wink

If it's not too late for this batch, I'd like to get one 34S spiral bound manual.

M.

Click on the "Private Messages" blue link at the top of this thread, and if you have a private message
it will show up there. (I didn't get an email notification either that I had a private message, but it was
there when I explicitly looked in private messages).

Hope this helps, Barry Mead

I used PayPal but paid for the fee on my side, and my address was included in the PM sent to you.

Namir,

Thanks for your order. You'll get a PM regarding the WP 34S manual.

For the WP 31S manual, however, you're #12 on the list where a minimum of 20 subscribents are required (please see previous posts in this thread). So I've to ask for your patience in this matter.

d:-)

Once the 3.3 Spiral-bound manuals are received, I suppose we should expect to see listings of "Vintage WP-34S Original Manuals" appearing in the Classified section...

Not mine though. Although the new one will be easier to handle (plus the updates!) the original one will remain a treasured item. It's one of my go-to books to pick up when I have a free moment, open on a random page and enjoy reading it, whatever happens to be there.

I like that.
