HP Calcs displaying 10 decimal digits - bshoring - 04-15-2014 07:55 PM

Of the HP LED calculators, is the HP-35 the only one that can display 10 digits to the right of the decimal point? Does anyone know the history or why that changed?

Thanks,
Bob

It's quite possible that only the HP-35 could do that. I'd speculate that the FIX/SCI/ENG formatting keys needed to have a single digit argument therefore limiting the number of decimal places to 9. On the handheld calculators, the formatting keys started with the HP-80.

On later models, the 32s/ii for example, setting more than 9 decimal places is a little strange, you need to key in FIX .0 to get 10 places and FIX .1 for 11 places.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks, Katie!
