Hp41 (rare?) module... - isanchez - 05-10-2018 03:28 PM

Dear Friends,

Do yo have any idea about an HP41 module, labeled "Sto. Domingo"?

No documentation about it, NO idea about the origin and what's about...maybe you got an idea...

I enclose a picture...

Kind regards

Ignacio

If the calculator it is plugged into will turn on, the try yellow shift, ENTER and 2 (to do a CAT 2) and then let us know what is shown in the display. If the display moves too quickly, press the R/S key and then SST through each entry.

Very cool.

(Sorry for the step-by-step instructions above if you are already very familiar with the HP 41!)

Thanks a lot Gene for your instructions (of course, the detailed explanations are welcome!)

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the module (also cannot see if there is a ref. code in the side face). It has been offered to me, and I am considering to buy it.

Thanks again.

Ignacio

Get the seller to do it and ask him/her to report back what comes up

It’ll give great insight into what’s in that there ROM

Aha. Then perhaps whoever is considering selling it to you could do that?

That would help a lot to know what it is before paying some $$. :-)

Hi,

I suspect this module is about road design (layout).

I have seen some screen captures and it requests data about this issue (i am civil engineer). The interface is in spanish.

Additionaly, Sto. Domingo is the "patron saint" of the civil engineers of Spain!!

Beside this, no idea about the origin of this module.

Reagards

Ignacio

Very interesting, I'd love to see those screen captures !

If Spanish Civil Engineers have a patron Saint, I may think twice before crossing any fancy bridges in Spain... Wink

my offer is public: I would pay $100 for the module only and publish the image for free to anyone here.....

Why would it not be the other way around? Patron saints assist and protect. If a discrimination is to be made, wouldn't it be more reasonable to have concern of those who propose to operate without one?

Good point! (pessimism vs. optimism?)

I was thinking that if the Saint felt he/she was needed, there must be a reason... but with said Saint 'on the job', you're probably right. Anyhow, I've long wanted to travel and see Spain, so now I'll just have to go to see what such 'protected' works are like; I've always heard they're beautiful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ... but I'd say they are fine examples of bridges and other civil engineering feats scattered in the land (patronized or not ;-)

Now if we could see those screen captures....

let us ask to a friend of us, one of the major expert in HP41 modules, the inventor of Clonix and NoVRAM, King of the carribean sea Smile
maybe that module was dedicated to him, the prince of Sto Domingo Smile

Hi again,

sorry, I was out of the office for some days.
I enclose a couple of pictures…
(regarding Saints debate, I believe, as civil engineer, that every help is welcome…better if it is qualified)

PK means "Kilometric Point"
Cota means "High"

Regards

Ignacio

Hi Sylvain!

Yes, could be another possiblity to investigate!

i doubt it's that one. I have the book and did put together all programs in the SESA_SOL module . There's no text string like "PK,COTA" anywhere to be found.

So despite the coincidence (Sto. Domingo) it doesn't appear to be related.

Thank you Angel for your clarifications, I have not the book actually the fact is singular for the coincidence as you have noticed
