Hello all,

Because of viruses attack, I have reinstalled window's 10. I have to reinstall wp34s GUI and wp34s window's.

One can tell me what are the very latest builds ?.

I have here :

3883 for windows (2016-01-29)
3844 for Gui (2015-12-22)

May be Marcus, Walter or Pauli can tell me ?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm pretty sure Walter isn't going to be able to tell you... :-|
The other guys would, but as I'm here now I can chime in. I had a related question to add anyhow.

I think you can always grab "the latest" build via https://sourceforge.net/p/wp34s/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/realbuild/
At least, that's what I always do.

Based on this, the latest build is 3.3901 dating from 25 Mar 18.
I updated mine to that level from a couple of versions earlier (3887 I think).
(I believe I used flashing file calc_xtal_full.bin since I have the crystal installed)
Following the update from 3887→3901, the command VERS returns 3899 instead of the 3901.
So it looks to me like when they went from 3899→3901, they may have forgotten to update the version tag on at least the calc_xtal_full.bin file I used. I couldn't have grabbed the wrong file, because only the current ones are on that page. Possibly, though, they forgot to update one (or more) of them to really be at 3901 and left the older version instead (in which case I am truly running 3889). Anyhow, has anyone else tried to flash 3901 and have flashing go well, but VERS = 3889 reported? Thanks!

Just download 'wp34sgui.exe' from here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/wp34s/code/3901/tree//trunk/windows/bin/

Franz

Ooh! I didn't realize the built binaries were included in the source code repository. In general, they usually just contain the (source) files used to build the binaries.

The number displayed by VERS seems to be the latest SVN revision number at the time of the build plus 1. The act of committing the built binaries back into the repository will bump the SVN number by 1, so presumably the +1 is to compensate for that. The only reason I can think of for some of the binaries displaying the wrong revision in the VERS command is that perhaps not all the binaries committed to SVN are the result of a "clean" build state.

Seems to be a step-by-step approach: first it complained about a missing emulator.dll, downloaded that, after that it complained about Error while loading skin (33), so I downloaded a .skin (which was already there but in a subdirectory 'emulator', probably from the installation back in 2016). Now it complains Error while loading skin (27), pretty much the same as before, I see a grey square with a menu line. Help/About shows Build 3901, so it's just the GUI that's stuck. And me Wink

/M.

EDIT: Added the appropriate BMP and it works. Thank you!

Well, I thought you already had a previous version of the WP34s emulator and just wanted to update to the last version.
For a complete new installation you need a few other files of course, or you could also download the complete (but old) emulator package wp34s_V3.zip and then update the new EXE:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/wp34s/files/

Flashing? That is with a real machine. How should I proceed with an emulated one?
In the manual I found a list which of the .bin files is for what purpose, I also found a recipe how to update a real machine, alas with the emulator I am stuck.

Ciao.....Mike

Oh, I'm sorry. I had forgotten there are emulators for Win/Mac/Linux. I was indeed replying to the (unasked) question of where the latest bins are for the physical calculator. I can't help with the emulator, although I have the WP-34s iOS emulator on my iPod Touch. But that's a different sort of emulator :-)

So, where might one find the complete pkg for the latest (r3901) version of the newer QT-based Emulator?

Not that the mysterious hunt through the byzantine world of SourceForge isn't fun and educational, but it's actually...well, neither of those.

Not really: just a conversion of the C++/Qt code to Objective-C/iOS.

Someone has to build it and upload it to sourceforge. Usually it was me but compiling for 3 platforms has always been an hassle: something always goes wrong on a least one.
As I do not have as much free time as I did before, you will have to keep using the current version, i.e. 3883 or wait till someone else does it (or till I'm retired ;-)

Thanks for clarifying Pascal. I'm happy to keep using the older version, but even more happy that it simply wasn't there to find (rather than it was and I couldn't find it). No need to advance retirement Smile

If the coders are looking at this thread, I notice that there's no 32-bit client build for Linux in the Makefile, only 64-bit. Is there a particular reason for that?

Cheers

Lazyness mainly.

Plus the fact that Linux distros are dropping 32-bit support anyway. You can't get a 32-bit Ubuntu 18.04, for example, now, only 64-bit.

See, this is exactly how progress happens - hardware gets old and gets discontinued. This happens all the time.

Then one day comes along and finds you talking about 32 bit software and someone young chimes in,
"32 bit! that was over 34 years ago!". Then, like magic, you feel very old.
