I had experienced this issue in the past and was pleased that I was able to complete this most recent firmware update from a Windows 10 virtual machine running in VirtualBox on my Linux Desktop.

Glad the update process worked for you both.

The issue really was getting a reliable method that didn't use the "SCSI direct pass through write" like the original update mechanism used. Once we had that in the previous version, everything would be much smoother in the future so it is very nice to see it working as planned.

I had no trouble updating the CK, VC, and my physical device. (Anxiously waiting for iOS Pro app in updates!) Many thanks for a major leap forward!
I have just one problem since the update, though. The VC aborts on Windows 10 when I press the toolbox key. It works on VC on macOS and on physical Prime. Tried repair and uninstall, re-install, but no luck. Everything else seems to work.

In App Store already there is the new (pro) version. Enjoy!

You have ASTROLAB installed?

Tim, I would add that not the whole Astrolab set could be problematic, but only one of its associated app: Solar System (and maybe also Jupiter Satellites).
I have installed Astro Lab 4 with Phases of the Moon, Rising and Setting View and Seasons View, and there is no problem with Catalog.
Solar System uses Geometry and could still have some problems. However I know that my best friend Marcel is already working to release new version of all the set app with more compatibility to the new firmware.

Salvo

No, I do not have ASTROLAB.

Just got the iOS Pro update, too. Thanks for the tip!

I just discovered that a bug I encountered last weekend in the last release is gone. (User function returning a local array only returned [[1,1]] element.) Hurray!

What difference in installed files do you have? One of the is most likely the culprit I think.

How about characters Ģ (U+0122) and ģ (U+0123)? Still do not work.

How do they "not work" I see them in the font... please explain more.

RE: New Version: 2018.01.24 1.4.0.13333 - Voldemar - 02-02-2018 10:48 PM

If You tap on character Ģ or ģ once, it writes out, if You tap again, it writes on the first character. No possible write if Ģ or ģ is written. Problem is that cursor stays on the left of these characters, normally cursor stays on the right.

RE: New Version: 2018.01.24 1.4.0.13333 - mark4flies - 02-03-2018 06:08 PM

I repaired the VC but the problem remained. I un-installed the VC, downloaded the installer again and re-installed the VC but the problem remained. I reset the VC and the problem disappeared! I restored the VC and the problem returned. I reset the VC and gave up on the corrupt backup.

So it goes.

One of the changes in the new version that is important to me is: CAS random number generator changed to use Mersenne twister. Is this change pervasive or only at work in the CAS environment? Thanks!

Those new features in the new version sound great! I was checking for updates some moments ago, but it seems the latest version on Android in the Play store is 1.3.2 with firmware 11586. Hopefully the new version will be available soon, I am eager to try all those great new features. Smile

Only any CAS randomness. We want the old HP random generator to stay the same so programs don't change from previous behavior.

So why was this happening? Well, for some reason the font had the spacing boundaries screwed up. Take a look at this image from fontforge.

[Image: Screen_Shot_2018-02-06_at_11.28.39_AM.png]

You can see that right spacing is way over to the left at "16". Why? No clue. That is the way the droid sans font this is based on came. Anyway, I'll upload the font and you can drop in your install for the emu, and when the next version comes out for the various apps (if/whenever that should be) it will have it.
