MoHPC docs on USB
A while back I bought a copy of the dvds on usb (great deal, still is in my opinion). My question relates to the speed of the usb drive. It seems to "wake" much more slowly than other drives. What I mean is that it takes much longer (3-5 seconds) to respond to initially opening any folder or right clicking on any file (in Windows 7). However, as soon as it responds, then its speed is like any other usb drive (i.e. opening folders and right-clicking a file for a drop-down menu is instantaneous). For all my other usb drives, there is never this initial delay. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Dunno: I copied mine on the HD as soon as I received it.

As did I :-) but there was no reason to not continue using the usb drive for extra storage... do you happen to still have it around to test?

RE: MoHPC docs on USB
Just tried my MoHPC USB drive on a Win-7 Pro x64 machine. Results are same as any other (USB2) drive. No hesitation or noticeable delays.

Try doing a CHKDSK with auto-repair (upper box checked, no need to check lower), it's possible something was corrupted by an early removal; this would behave the way you describe.

Thank you for the tips. I have actually already tried formatting, chkdsk, and even defrag but none of those have had any effect.

I just realized I don't remember where I put it.
I have to look for it...
