Nice GPS case for the WP34s
Greetings, I was looking for a nice case for my WP34s and found a nice GPS case that fits the bill from Case Logic.

The case is a zippered clam shell with soft padded pocket for the device to one side, and another thin pocket on the opposite side handy for carrying your printed virtual keyboard layouts, program indexes, a credit card, &c. The case provides excellent tumble resistance fits nicely in a purse or man-bag (whatever).

marcus

Kind regards,
marcus

Nice case. The WP 34S also fits perfectly into the 35s clamshell case for those who insist on HP. Smile

Hmmm... looks like the case that came with my 35s, back in 2007. Do I get this right, this case is sold for 30 USD now? Even for a used item? Amazing... $-)

BTW for those who want to try the Case Logic version suggested by Mark: it seems to be a GPSP-6, and if it fits, some other cases for 5" GPS devices may do so as well.

The specs on the GPSP-6 clam shell are listed:

Case Size 6.5 x 1.6 x 4.5 inches (16.51 x 4.064 x 11.43 cm)

Fits devices 6 x 1.25 x 3.75 in (15.24 x 3.175 x 9.525 cm)

Most items sold as "used" from Sampson are effectively new condition; when dealers return unsold new products to manufacturers or distributors, by law (in USA) they can no longer be sold as "new". Several sellers on TAS and actively discussed here in these forums buy these new but technically "used" cases to sell to guys like us that want original HP accessories.

So, I agree it's not cheap, but don't worry at all about the used status. Also, I've seen this case from time to time on TAS for less, but knowing the dealer helps to offset some buying risk.

The case supplied with the HP-17bii Silver does as well. Just FYI.

If someone finds a nice hardcase for the 35s, please info @ Thomas Big Grin (mine has lost zipability). Needs to take a height of 165 mm, and most cases that would fit in this respect are way too wide -> GPS/small tablet cases Undecided.

Edit: The original case is not reliable I think.

Thomas - I think the original HP-33S case will also fit the 35S. It's a hard leather slipcase with opening on top. Though I've seen some of these with badly peeling outer finish, I also have one in like-new condition after several years of occaisional use. I've seen these listed on TAS and also possibly from Sampson as well. Maybe even Eldorado Trading?

I see 3 on Samson's website. Are those the ones you're referring to?

Yes, exactly, ranging $4.99 to $14.99 based on use/condition.

Thanks, seems to be a good replacement :-). I'll see if I can get one from the EU.

200LX Case
Since we're talking about cases, what's a good case for the 200LX? The 50g case fits nicely, but I was wondering if someone's found something better.

On TAS last year, I found an original HP case listed specifically for the 200LX (of course 95LX, 100LX, 1000LX fit as well) which I had never seen before (or it could be my memory). It's a thinly padded case of a stretchy material that fits over the 200 tightly, like a glove. There is an embossed HP Logo and "HEWLETT PACKARD" on the flap. Seemed kinda flimsy until I put it on the 200LX, which substantially changes the feel; it's much nicer on than off. I got it cheap too, I think it was about $20, and although listed as used, it seemed new.

No idea if this was the 'standard' case for the 200LX, but having never seen it before, probably not. It's almost certainly made by HP. Recommended!

Mark:
I found this case which looks like it would work for the HP-20b/WP-34s conversion. (and cheap $9.99). I will let you know how well the calculator fits when it arrives. (It should fit nicely, as other cases for the 35s have already been used for the WP-34s.) here

I have one of these, I can check tonite; they're padded nicely and well-made. I got it for my Prime, as I don't like the hard slider Prime cover - my college-age son immediately pointed out I am certainly a grup (any trekkies out there?) for switching to a case like this.

Update: As expected, a WP-34S fits just fine in this case. The case is obviously bigger than needed for a 34S (intended for 33S, 35S and Prime), however it is not so large that the 34S is at all loose in the case. It is snug enough that the 34S fits without moving vertically or horizontally, but the case would also accept the Quick Reference Guide or Pocket Reference described earlier.

Don't let the $9.99 price scare you, it's a very nice case for all these machines.
