Swiss Micro DM12 users
Just ordered a DM12L from Swiss Micro and a HP12 case from Gfeller. DM 12L appears to be 129 mm × 79 mm × 13 mm just a hair thinner so case made for HP12c 128 × 79 × 15 mm should work. Have a 12c platinum I've been using but want a better keyboard.

Best would be like new barely used 80s era 12c, second best is eiter the DM12L or 12C+ two batterry arm processor that is hard to find.

It looks like most new 12c and clones use an emulator? Original programming must easy to fit on new memory and run faster on modern processors.

Can you post a link to the Gfeller case?

Gfeller said they have a lightet Natural Skirting Leather and a Buffalo Calf (Black) that is firmer than the Natural Kip either adds $10 to the price. I ordered the Buffalo Calf for mor protection.

The DM12 uses an original ROM image, I believe. I know the DM42 uses an emulation and no original code but I'm pretty sure the rest of the SM calculators use actual HP firmware. Only the processor itself is emulated.

Thanks Dave.

I could have googled this too, I was just trying to encourage a new user to add more useful info in posts like this...

The DM42 uses the Free42 simulator, not emulation, but the other models do indeed emulate their respective CPU to run original ROMs (slightly modified in the case of the DM15/DM15L to add more program steps).

I bought a 2nd hand 12C that was only €40, 1/3 of the price of a DM12L. Only thing was that the original owner had let his name engraved in the metal next to the display, but besides that it looked nearly new. I didn't have to search very long for it.

Because the 12C is still in production I don't really see the business case of a DM12L for its current price, when I order a brand new new HP12C I pay half the price of a DM12L: https://www.amazon.com/HP-HP12C-12C-Fina...B00000JBLH . Maybe for SM collectors? But then, I would expect it to sell even less than the (limited edition) DM10L.

Thanks for the correction. It's an important difference!

It is been a while since I stocked up on 12c calculators ;-) but it shouldn't be hard to find a like-new 80s 12c? Many were given to starting employees, and put away, or were only briefly used in a class? I have a USA made and Singapore made 12c, and both are excellent (and were very affordable). The Singapore one even came with a handbook (in Dutch).
