Does joining DM42 forum take a long time?
Several folks here are also members of SwissMicros' DM42 forum. After you "registered" to join, how long did you have to wait to get the confirmation email? It's been several days and I'm getting antsy. I checked my spam folder. Should I just calm down and be patient? <oh no!>

I don't remember exactly when I got the confirmation mail. If I'm not mistaken, I think I hit the "resend confirmation" after abt an hour, whereupon I received the confirmation.

Another thing is, the DM forum behaves like this forum. Your 3-4 first posts need to be verified by a moderator and that can take (as here) a couple of days.

BTW, it'll be nice to have you also over on the "other" side Smile

RE: Does joining DM42 forum take a long time?
The forum interface is so dang clunky especially for organizing a program library. I am working on porting a few classics by our very intelligent forum members to the DM42 and learning quite a bit in the process, but I think a wiki is what’s needed or just plain old directories of text files of the program listings.

That said I joined the Swissmicros forum as well and it took about two days to get confirmed.

I'm also waiting; note that they have a sign on the order page saying they're about to close for a week for holiday/vacation. That may only be for orders, of course.

They're Europeans. They take their vacations seriously. Smile

Just a little bit more seriously than them.

I'm Scots; we take holidays very seriously indeed.

As Wodehouse said, it is never difficult to distinguish between a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine.

[edit: brain fade, oddly wrote Twain instead of Wodehouse, despite knowing otherwise. Perhaps because Twain said most other quotes]

The 11th Commandment maybe? "Thou shalt keep thy holidays holy."

This was on the first set of tablets Moses brought down from Mt. Sinai. When he saw his people actually enjoying their holiday, he smashed the tablets and had to ask G-d for another set limited to only the first 10.

Bonus: A quote from the book of Numbers: "5, 9, -12, 62."

You might want to try sending Michael an email. Wherever he may be right now, he was logged in a few hours ago, so if he still hasn't approved your account, after several days, it could be that there's something wrong with their system and your account request has gotten lost or stuck somewhere.

That's probably a good idea. I have most administrative privileges on the forum but I don't have access to any of the contact info entered by users, I don't get any notification when people join and I can't run a filter for users who are not yet confirmed.

I emailed Michael a couple of days ago about an order issue; no reply as yet, so I won't bother him again about my lack of forum confirmation just yet…
