You mean a hot-rod 49G?
A hot-rod 50G on an FPGA would be an ARM soft core running a ROM emulating the Saturn running the 50G ROM, which would be kinda superfluous.

Maybe. I simply do not know whether the 50g ROMs will work on a 49G so I went with the latest and greatest. And I was thinking it would be great if it was possible to package it in a 50g chassis since they're cheap enough.

Implementing the Saturn core in a FPGA should not be too hard. However, if you want it (1) fast (400MHz), (2) low power (battery operated) and (3) cheap, then it would quite a challenge. Choose any two of the three and its easier
