As promised, I've written up my experience in creating and testing a replacement for the HP-41 CPU connector. The whole process came about when dealing with two calculators with bad zebra connectors. Corrosion on a spot in a wrapped wire form of connector prevented a key connection between CPU and main board, while contamination of a foam style connector prevented any operation at all.
Restoring those two calculators to normal operation was my main motivation, as was solving a problem that had also vexed others. I'd like to express my appreciation to those who provided suggestions and a helping hand in testing the solution. Here's hoping the HP-41 is still going strong twenty years from now!
