Thanks for adding me to this forum. My husband passed away recently, and I am sorting through his large collection of HP calculator equipment in order to sell it off.
First, are there many on this forum in Australia, where I am (near Canberra, ACT)?
Secondly, I came across an 82168A Acoustic Coupler - it seems an unusual article, would it be valuable? [attachment=4402]
Thirdly, I am sorting out the calculators with their manuals and accessories so I know what I have, but there are several separate books on the HP41 (HP-41 Extended Functions Made Easy, HP-41 M Code for Beginners, HP41 Synthetic Programming Made Easy). Would it be better to offer these for sale here where members might be interested in these, than on eBay?
Sorry for your loss.

You'll probably get more money on ebay, but I don't know for sure.

It is rare, but essentially obsolete, most people don't even have phones that will fit it anymore. It will of interest to collectors and enthusiasts.
Hi,

Even if its not useful as a communications device, it is still interesting historically.

Moreover, it can charge classic batteries (e.g. HP-67 or HP-75) in the compartment between the receptacles for the handset.

It is a communication device to be used with a telephone on the landline telephone system (POTS).
It was used to either transmit files or to remotely access a text terminal.

The following picture show a test setup that I had build two years ago.
HP-71B <-> HP-82168A Acoustic Coupler <-> a touch tone telephone <-> a phone line simulator <-> a touch tone telephone <-> HP-82168A Acoustic Coupler <-> HP-75C

Best regards,

Sylvain
