I understand your points there. I went straight from the 25 to a 41CV, and that was after coveting a 55, not a 65 or 67. Right after I got the 41, I went to sparky school and used it heavily.
I think the, to me, utter impossibility of ever getting a 65 back in the 70s colored my view. $800 for a calculator, and IIRC, my first car, bought new off the lot was around $2500, there was no way I was going to have a 65. Also, I was in a rural backwater then (as well as now) and I knew one (!!) person with an HP of any kind, and his was a 45, and his folks were loaded.
(I checked a while back, he still has it, but holds no interest in calculators anymore, he is into computer hardware)
As for the rationale in getting a 67, we have the 'classic' body, and rprosperi's spirited defense, my CAS, and as I ponder it, the 20 series technology is slowly becoming a plus.
I think the HP67 acquisition is in the cards, just not on the 'rapid response required' list.
There are some 'larger' items in the offing besides the little stuff I'm finding; another 25 to be modded with IR, the CL of course, a 42, the follow on to the WP34S, 7470 plotter, and a few others.
The 'infection' is still raging, but the host is adapting . . . .
