MY NEWEST CREATION:

Seen here is my newest creation, Win 7 64 bit ported to the NexTSTEP Operating System Running DOS programs from 1987 using DOSBox all over top of Mac OSX Yosemite.

ALL AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SAME COMPUTER. All four OSes can be seen working in this screenshot. They are not running next to each other but on top of each other.

DOS over NeXSTEP over Win 7 over OSX Four OSes running at the same time on the same computer.

I think the universe explodes next.

Run on a MacBook Pro 17" vintage 2011.

Will not run on my HP71b.

Did you try hard enough? Wink

Maybe you should hunt for the 12GB extension for the card reader port, the IL mouse and the IL flat screen adapter. Big Grin

I'm sure there is a LEX file for that, it's just a matter of finding it. (the answer to virtually all 'can the HP-71 do that?' inquiries) Smile
I have all the 71b mods- the CMT 32KB module Card reader the 41/71 translator etc.
ACTUALLY! Can anyone point me to the 71b emulators for download out there? I think I can put it in DOSBox and have it on top.

Jean Francois' Emulator for DOS (does work with DOSBox)

Christoph Giesselink's Emulator for Windows (DOSBox not required)

If you have Virtual Box running, and plenty of memory, then you can have a multitude of operating systems running. Some time ago, I played around trying to see how many different operating systems I could have running at same time. Came up with the following: Windows 7 (Host Computer), Windows XP, Windows 98, CP/M-86, FreeDos, MSDos 6.2, Xenix 286, Xenix 386, Slackware Linux 7.1, Mark Williams Coherrent.

A couple of years ago at work, we had a Windows 7 machine that had an older virtual Windows server and then that Windows Server had another virtual server running on it with the final database system running in that server. I didn't set this system up. We had a "creative" computer consultant that set up this convoluted system. I remember the database system was an out of date server based system, but never totally understood why he had several layers of virtual machines running. Last year they finally upgraded the database system and was able to go with a normal windows system without all the virtualization.

You could run CARDIAC in Emu42. Or run it within HP-42X emulated in Emu48.

Cheers

Yes but keep in mind that my OSes are STACKED.

Meaning they are all running on top of each other and not next to each other.
That really increases the complexity.

OSX
Win 7 on top of that
NextSTep on top of that
DOC on the very top.

I don't believe that becomes a concern unless you were to run OS X with a VM running Win 7 running a VM running OS X.

The universe may not explode but it is likely to create a disturbance in The Force.

You could try to run CP/M on top of DOS...

Or Windows 98.

Or Windows 98.

Why stop there?

You could do Windows 98, then Radio Shack Model I emulator and then run CP/M in the Model 1.

Very good! That should keep John busy for a while.
Yeah. That is the next step, someting on top o DOS. There really is no way to "slide" anything else in the middle.
I have an extra copy of OS/2 Warp V3. You could run that right below DOS, then run DOS, Win 3.1 programs and an X server to window into your SunOS stuff on the side...

I prefer OS/2 2.1 Borg

Prepare to have your O/S's assimilated. We'll call it Windows.
