Hello eveybody,

Here are some pictures of HP Prime wireless kit with antenna presented during a french maths teachers gathering.
The system is very easy to use : plug & play !

Can you share the cost of such a kit and its availability?

I have a kit on order from De Rekenwinkle ('The Computer Shop') in Holland. Price €699 plus shipping of €25. (my experience is that as soon as I order something from far away at a high price, the item is certain to become available locally at a lower price)

My plan is to use some of the dongles in an educational project, but also to see if they can be mated up with an off-the-shelf IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver.

Where did you get your Prime calculator?

On that site, they keep selling the old original NW280AA/B1S model REv.A hardware, and as far as I know, it do not support the HP wi-fi dongles nor the HP Datastreamer.

Really nice idea, but wouldn't using this kit require all students to own a Prime? Where do you have such a situation? I know one school in Germany obligated the kids to get a TI Voyager (might be about 10 years ago), but it might be much more difficult to argue for a rather uncommon model like the Prime.

How is the situation in the USA?

Attention: these area EAME units, and therefore guarantee doesn't apply overseas - only Europe, Africa and Middle East.

There are also the Smartstream 410, some Fourier probes and the wireless dongle kit.

I assume the Primes are property of the school and are lent to the students.

It depends on the schools and can go both ways. There are just as many (more?) that don't provide but require the student purchase the "supported" unit.
