Most of the ones I have seen were made at HP's Singapore factory, that opened in 1972.
I understand a few were made in the US (Corvallis ?). But now I have found one made in Brazil.
Does anyone know details on the Brazil HP factory?

Any other factories in the 1978-83 time period for Spice ?

cheers,
Chris.
I am not 100% sure, but in the 70-80’s, Brasil had some issues with their currency & inflation. you could only sell product there (as a foreign company) if you had some form of manufacturing/assembly in the country - think of it as “balance of trade”, so it was likely about market-access. I only know of A, S & B as country of manufacture on calculators. Well, until it all went to China & Co…
The 12C was manufactured in Brazil for many years, and the HP-12C Platinum Prestige was made and sold exclusively in Brazil (2006 -> ~2013?). I have heard rumors that late Spice machines were manufactured there, but this is the first hard evidence of one. What is the serial number, if you don't mind sharing, or at least the year/week?
