I reworked hpott's design for the IR board slightly: I didn't like the THT IR LED, and I wanted the USB port centered. I had two made at JLCPCB, at <$15 each including shipping. The only part they did not stock was the IR LED, so I got them from digikey and soldered them myself.

I was initially tempted to use the GPIO pins from the ftdi chip to drive Rx and Tx LEDs, and also drive the Reset and Erase contacts under program control, but left that for the next version!

Here is the board, installed. I couldn't find my stash of crystals, so I didn't install one, more are on the way from digikey now.

If there is interest, and with hpott's permission since it was his original design, I'll post the schematic, gerbers, and BOM, so you can order your own directly.
